The sounds of acorns falling, squirrels putting them away for winter, the crispness of the wind, birds at my feeder and painting pumpkins.

Things start to feel cozy. I begin to look forward to drawing within for winter. pulling out the wool and walking in the wind.

The sting of the cool autumn wind on my face. the sounds of the crunchy leaves as the wind blows through the trees and how they flutter down slowly and gracefully to the ground. The sight of the annual fall salmon and they struggle to get up the river to their lay their eggs in the rocks of the cold crystal waters of the river. The site of fresh garden pumpkins sitting on fence rows down a country lane but most of all the sights and sounds of Halloween which fall on my birthday :)!

We live near to a seaside town. When fall comes all the visitors and tourists vanish, and it's a joy to walk down the almost empty pier, and along the sea wall, wrapped in warm clothes and with the wind in our hair. Heaven.

I'm a farm girl, so I have a special place in my heart for the fields. I love that time after harvest, when all that's left is stubble, which is so strikingly golden, especially against a blue sky or at dusk. I'm also a fan of the hawks who watch carefully over the fields over the errant mouse or snake. It's definitely a cycle of life thing, and I know it's the introduction to the farmers prepping their fields to eventually be blanketed by snow. And there are things growing beneath, waiting until spring to emerge. Amazing!

Fall is such a rich bouquet of colors. I'm especially drawn to pumpkins and pumpkin pie spice...it always smells so rich and full. It's the smells of autumn that lead us right into the wonderful Christmas season. So glad you are able to join us at http://www.ardemos.com where being creative is a 365 kinda thing :)

Autumn brings a fresh wet scent to the air, all around are beautiful leaves of red, gold, yellow and brown. I like the way they curl and drift to the ground. Autumn to me feels like an interlude, a time of waiting...

As a spring baby I adore the budding of blooms and the rebirth of greens, but I must confess I also find fall so magical. I love the colors, the crunchiness, the promise of pumpkins, but my VERY most favorite thing about fall is looking at the red leaves in contrast with the steel blue sky of a cloudy afternoon. Takes my breath away...

I love walking on crunchy leaves, and see how the trees change colors. The summer is very long where I live, so we are pretty much in winter by the time we have all the fall colors but it is fun!

A day at the cider mill is my favorite thing about fall...the smells, the taste of fresh apple cider and apple donuts, children feeding the ducks, the harvest of pumpkins and gourds...I think it's so appealing because it engages every sense, crisp air, smells, tastes, sites...just wonderful.

Fall is my favorite time of the year. The air is crisp, the sky seems bluer. The leaves put on their brightest and beautious colors before they bid adieu. I love to catch a scent of wood burning in the air and chocolate chip cookies baking inside while watching the flicker of flames dancing in the fireplace...fuzzy funky knee socks, boots, turtlenecks...hot chocolate...:-)

Beyond a doubt, the colors and sounds.
