Love

Inspired by the lovely Mystele from http://littleglimpsesstudio.ning.com/
I picked some photo faces from prints created from  paintings. The wings are made with homemade paper. Very nice and thick. She has little flowers (real dried flowers) in her hair, which is mostly covered by the yummy wax ;-)
I included some  japanese tape, and  typewriter letters spelling 'love'. Oh her little dress was from this gorgeous paper i found at Urban Sources here in Vancouver.http://www.urbansource.bc.ca/index.html an alternative art material store ( a must see if your ever in vancouver)! I used a piece of sari silk inserted thru a little cherry mini eyelet, I made with my crop a dile, and the final touch with an encaustic finish. With the ribbon she hangs about eleven inches

First of Three Paintings Commission

I am working on three paintings presently for one person.
The theme is Three Sisters..I just finished the first one.
The first one I just finished was inspired by Raphael The Three Graces.
The Three Graces are the personification of grace and beauty.
In Raphaels The Three Graces all women have their hand on each other's shoulders, and I was immediately
inspired to create a mixed media work using that same idea , because the Three Sisters are very close to each other. It was a great challenge, and enjoyed creating this  artwork for Jenni.
Although Jenni and I know each other only thru helping each other out thru etsy, we don't know each other well; but after doing these three paintings I feel a closeness I can relate to,because we are also Three Sisters.

In the Three Sisters I created the customer wanted specific items held in their hands a sun, moon and star

The second painting was inspired from a photo of my 2 sisters and myself.
In this painting more so than the other two, I felt some sadness.Just
the way it turned out. By writing the three words Love Faith and Hope it enhanced
the love and closeness of the Three Sisters under trying situations

In the last painting The Three Sisters are under an arch. I was inspired by different artists.
I used a crackling technique
to make the building look old. This painting also depicts the closeness with The Three Sisters.

Lady in Red

Red Friday.. whoa!
What does red mean for you?
There's many symbols related to the color red.
Red symbolizes life energy, physical strength and vitality, joy, excitement, passion, luck
Childhood stories.. Little 'Red Hen', 'Little Red Riding Hood'
In Asian culture monetary gifts are usually presented in 'red 'envelopes during festive occasions
The 'red lotus' expresses compassion and passion

White Thursday:Self Portrait with Bijou

Into the white. This was most challenging
I was playing with the whites to get some
reasonable amount of darks also.
It was made on very thick cardboard ( almost
looked like bookboard) ,which was attached to a teething cooler for Bijou my cat . He's 10 months old and bites
into everything. He chewed off the cord on my yoga pants lol
I gessoed the thick cardboard three times on both side, and it was wonderful to work on. It's 81/2 x 51/2..
I have some beautiful silk ribbon , and I think it's ready
to hang up;-)))
