Sunday sketch @ my favorite cafe today, after I
dropped off my artwork @ Beansprouts. I wanted to create a dreamy
mood with textures. ~ Inspired by the book The Dovekeeper by Alice
Hoffman, which I'm reading right now.Textures courtesy from Kimmie
Draper, and a free Paris Background texture.

I am here .........
This is what I wrote in my little handcrafted Angel Book. I called this journal "Life's Special Moments" . First entry is a poem from a prompt by Misty "I am Here" for her upcoming workshop http://mistymawn.typepad.com/
I Am Here
Shoulder shrugs,
A smile,
Quick glances,
Hurries by,
A moments pleasure,
A real treasure,
Walking by
Smelling the flowers,
Excited,
French Conversations,
With the waitress from 'France',
C'est bien j'aime ca ~!
~~~~
Shrugs..what to do..what to do?
There will be plenty..!
Meeting great artists online
Will be a mighty fine~
~~~~~
It'll be a moments pleasure
That I will surely treasure
I feel excited to learn new techniques
And taking a workshop with the wonderful
Misty Mawn
It will be a great experience
Sharpened up the pencils, got my paints
Patience it will be
It won't be to long now
Until we will be shown the know how;-)

Mixed Media Book in the Making
Covers for my dos-a-dos book..Three covers, middle one being the back to front and back cover
I made a mixture of spackle and gesso and applied a layer to front and back of each cover.
Let it dry overnight.
The book is about creativity and freedom..The bird theme is used on each cover, with it taking
flight in the hand
My poetry is written on inside of cover..still have to finish posting on inside of last cover
I'll be using a coptic stitch to put book together.
More photos of finish art project to come
1. Front and inside of first cover
2. Front and Inside of middle cover

3. Front and Inside of back cover

Handcrafted Book

This is my latest handcrafted book based on one of my
original paintings Taking Flight.
This one of a kind handcrafted coptic stitch book is based on one of my paintings, which is sold as prints in my shop.
It is art in book form which you can display on your desk, or when not in use tie with a cord with two beads on each ends.
Affirmations written at random on front cover.
Various papers with three signatures lines the book.
You'll find lined paper,Arches and Aquarelle watercolor paper (140 lb and 300 lb),St. Armand paper,(from Montreal),Drawing paper.. enough to satisfy your creative needs.
The back cover is made with a beautiful batik print.
Signed by me on inside back cover.
Taking Flight is 7" x 9".
Taking flight is about new directions.
Letting go of the old, and renewing with new possibilities in discovering our highest potentials.
Adorned with wool, and ribbon, charms.
A handcrafted bookmark covered with vellum and ribbon with two beads comes with the book to carry you throughout the very end with your treasured thoughts, memories.

New Handmade Mixed Media Books

My latest handmade book .
I enjoy the process!!
Intuitively , I gather

projects.. pieces of paper that I save.
Some I paint, some already have a design.
I glue them on a bookboard randomly..
I love to see what unfolds..
Sometimes a thought of an item I
have stored in a box will come to mind..
and I get it..it was meant to be added to this process.
My muse is in full swing..
I used transparency film to create the image with gel medium..
Four strands of wool as bookmark adorns the outside
of cover with various beads, and inside for placement
For sale at my etsy store

Collaborative project with the Vancouver ATC Group on the Tea Theme.
The project host did a fantastic job on these books. They are nice and thick,
and so fun to read;-)
I did one on the Mad Hatter Tea Party using transparency film.

Each participant received one!
