A new journal entry!
I came across a bird called pink breasted grosbeak, after flipping thru Animal Speak, which is about animal totem. Sometimes you come across different animals, which you are attracted to. I've been attracted to the owl, and also love this bird. The interesting thing about this bird is the marking on his chest ,which resembles a heart shape. One of his characteristic his teaching us to heal wounds for mental and emotional harmony. She helps to recognize your own inner voice and power.

        Acrylics, ink,Stabilo 'All",gel pen

A new Journal entry.

"Spread Your Wings" by Mariette H.
Surrender, Surrender
To the limiltess love
Which lies within your heart
With purity
A song,a poem so lovely
Beauty abounds
Quiet sounds
In the still forest
Come and take a rest
Listen in Silence and watch the Magic unfold
 ~~~~~
Butterfly, Butterfly
SPread your wings
Learn to fly
Butterfly
~~~~~
To distant lands
Where no limit is at hand
Your heart of gold
Of stories untold
Spread your wings
Learn to fly...
Butterfly

Assemblage

This little assemblage was made with a recycled incense box.
Painted, distressed,found objects, shisha glass flower, clock, collaging, were use to create it.
Approx. 8" x 3 1/2 "  (when  opened), and a little frozen charlotte stands on guard.
Part of an incense base was used and glued on one of the panels, and I used telephone wires with a little bird dangling from it.
Handmade paper beads with bronze safety pins were used as inside decor.

Mixed Media Book in the Making

Covers for my dos-a-dos book..Three covers, middle one being the back to front and back cover
I made a mixture of spackle and gesso and applied a layer to front and back of each cover.
Let it dry overnight.
The book is about creativity and freedom..The bird theme is used on each cover, with it taking
flight in the hand
My poetry is written on inside of cover..still have to finish posting on inside of last cover
I'll be using a coptic stitch to put book together.
More photos of finish art project to come

1. Front and inside of first cover

Spring Medlody Mixed Media Handmade book

This handmade book is
5 1/2" x 9 " , and was created by me using the coptic stitch One of a kind.
The image on the cover is from my painting Spring Melody.which I sold recently. I altered the look of the window, which I quite like. Two paper clay lady bugs are resting on two of the panes, and a bird in flight on the top one. The marker part for holding your page in place has 3 big coral beads on twine at the end to carry you thru the vary last page with your treasure thoughs and secrets. There's a mix of blank,lined, and tibetan paper. On the inside of the front cover is a beautiful patterned batik material, and on back cover a glass mirror flower with hemp stem , adding a special touch to the book. These little round mirrors can be found on traditional east indian clothes, and are called 'shishas'. Look in the mirror,and see your beautiful smile;-) Affirmations at random on front cover.

"There was a little bird"

Green Wednesday;-)
Inspired by Gustav Klimt 'Two Women One Nude'
http://www.imageenvision.com/stock_illustration/details/0003-0710-2521-2530/two_women_one_nude_by_gustav_klimt

There was a little bird so green
Who sang a song so sweet
He went 'tweet,tweet,tweet'
Then to his feathers he preened.
